Kristi's Cover up Campaign!

Like many of my clientele Kristi came in with a few tattoos from her youth she wasn't happy with anymore. Fun ideas both for the time, and of the times. However now they were faded, dated, and no longer at all what she was after. Instead Kristi had especially come to appreciate numerous things about orchids. Both for their beauty and her personal history and symbology of them.
So Kristi came to me to not just duplicate her favorite flower, but to tell the story of why she loved them. To get rid of her older unwanted concepts in lieu of a gorgeous future!

The First one we worked on covering was this small little koi fish below. new to our process me and Kristi had a good long design session discussing the ins and outs of tattooing, color theory, and especially cover up tattooing. So much so that we came up with a few variations on ideas for the piece. Only for Kristi to better internalize all of our points from the session, and better recapture the magic of what she was really after with a new idea.

And so the first piece was done, and later we came back to add a few more details and adjust the cover up. Not long after the real itch of tattooing came calling, and so the thought came "I covered one old tattoo why shouldn't I cover the rest?" without any differing answer we started discussing the new flowers she wanted to start growing. this time a great new chrysanthemum.

Of course after this there was no stopping Kristi from making her floral dreams a reality. Rather than stopping with a few flowers she loved she instead worked with me to tie them all together. Firstly with a sprout of snapdragons, and the first of a chain of forget me knots.

Up until our latest session where we added even more forget me knots, and begun setting the stage for another major player in our garden. Kristi's next favorite flower a great big ranunculus with absolutely nothing held back for any reason.

Sadly we havn't quite gotten to our great big ranunculus flower so I hope a little of our Ai reference will keep you all enticed until I can add the newest piece to Kristi's amazing tropical garden!
Hope you're inspired by this one. Leave some comments or reach out to let us know what you think!
