Some tattoos are appointments. Others are expeditions. Logan’s sleeve was an expedition — nine sessions of world-building, color layering, and trust. From the very first conversation, this wasn’t just about tattooing a sea serpent. It was about creating a myth that wrapped organically around his arm — a living underwater alliance between a sea serpent and a siren.

Every once in a while, a client walks in with a strong idea and the rare wisdom to let the artist take it the rest of the way. That’s where the real work begins.

In January, Legend Ink had the opportunity to tattoo at Lucky’s Tattoo Museum in St. Petersburg, Florida for the first time. It was also the first time my son, Isaiah Bogdanov, and I worked from this historic space, and it quickly became clear that Lucky’s is something rare in the tattoo world. It is not just a museum. It is a living, working archive of tattoo history that still makes room for the present.

Behind ivy-covered walls on Potrero Hill lives a studio unlike any other. Jeff came to us with a heavily saturated arm tattoo: a large black and gray piece that many believed couldn’t be covered. The sun-faced tribal design had bold lines, deep shading, and sprawling composition. Most artists would have passed — or suggested laser removal. But Peter Bogdanov saw something different: an opportunity to create something epic.

So Julie and her sisters came in to get help with just that. Unconventionality depicting their love for their lost parents, and their shared experience in spreading their ashes.
